Opening of Sa-Nur Army Base Delayed for Political Reasons
Defense Minister Amir Peretz and Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Dan Halutz are delaying a request from Central Command to set up a permanent army base at the old British police station in Sa-Nur. The purpose of the base would be to facilitate IDF movements against terror in the north and in Samaria.

Mass Lag BaOmer Bonfire Planned in Shomron
A special Lag BaOmer bonfire is planned in Sa-Nur, one of the four communities the Sharon government has slated for uprooting, this Thursday night. A convoy of private cars will set off from northern Israel to Sa-Nur, kicking off the festivities.

It doesn't look like residents of Sanur in the West Bank are planning to leave their homes any time soon -- even though they are supposed to move out this summer as part of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's disengagement plan.
This week, construction was continuing on the community's synagogue; and residents dedicated a plot of ground for a new neighborhood and planted 72 palm saplings there as a sign of their belief that they will not be leaving.
