Residents of Gidonim, next to Itamar northeast of Jerusalem, wanted to replace the trailer with a better one in order that the soldiers guarding the areas would have better living conditions. A local commander agreed that the exchange in trailer homes would take place at 7:30 a.m. When the residents started to move the caravan two hours earlier, soldiers prevented them from continuing.
"The whole country is going to collapse because of two hours?" Itamar central committee chairman Yaakov Heyman told Arutz 7. "There was an agreement with the commander, and apparently a senior officer overruled him."
IDF officials said they wanted to make sure that there was an exchange of structures and that residents would not try to add the old trailer home to the community.
One of the IDF officers filed a complaint against a Gidonim resident for allegedly trying to run him over with his vehicle. One Itamar resident told Arutz 7 that the driver of the vehicle simply didn't stop when the officer ordered him to do so. "The officer used that as a pretext to file a complaint," he said.
