Though Gush Katif in Gaza has become the focus of the plans both for and against the expulsion/retreat plan, the four communities of the northern Shomron are involved as well.
A special Lag BaOmer bonfire is planned in Sa-Nur, one of the four communities the Sharon government has slated for uprooting, this Thursday night. A convoy of private cars will set off from northern Israel to Sa-Nur, kicking off the festivities.

The bonfire will be, say the organizers, the "fire of determination and hope, the one that has been burning since the days of Bar Kokhba and that will continue to burn for 'as long as within our hearts... our eyes are turned towards Zion' [from Israel's national anthem]."

The promotional literature states, "We will illuminate the Shomron with a great light of faith and determination. In the face of plans of darkness and destruction, we will gather together in Sa-Nur to rejoice and gain strength with the residents of the northern Shomron."

The Northern Task Force (Mateh Tzafon), the group that is behind the effort, organized a similar convoy on Independence Day to nearby Chomesh. "Some 200 cars arrived at once, and it was very impressive and supportive for the residents," said Mateh Tzafon director Shabtai Shiran. "They gathered at three northern junctions, but this time they are all scheduled to meet at 6:30 PM at the Megiddo Junction, along the Hadera-Afula highway." The bonfire is scheduled to begin at 8:30 PM, following the Maariv evening prayer.
