Elon Moreh Stands Firm Despite Terror Attempts The town of Elon Moreh in Samaria has been targeted by terrorists several times in the past year. “Our faith is unwavering,” resident says. By Maayana Miskin - Arutz 7 First Publish: 3/7/2012, 12:07 PM Frequent attempts by Palestinian Authority terrorists to infiltrate the Jewish town of Elon Moreh in Samaria have failed to weaken the community, local security chief Shai Suissa said, speaking to Arutz Sheva. “Those who live here have been blessed with great faith,” Suissa said. “We are here due to our faith, and even when things like this happen, it does not shake our trust in what is right.” Local guards and IDF soldiers worked together to stop an attempted terrorist infiltration earlier in the week. “We trust G-d, and at the same time, do the best work we can,” Suissa explained. “We provide security 24 hours a day. “Now we’re marking one year since the slaughter of the Fogel family… Unfortunately, since that incident there have been many similar infiltration attempts, some which made it into the media and some which didn’t." Elon Moreh’s PA neighbors “crossed all the lines long ago,” Suissa said. He expressed hope that the latest terror attempt would be appropriately punished, saying, “We expect that the legal system will take the proper steps with these terrorists, even though they failed to carry out their attack.” |

The town of Elon Moreh is situated near the city of Shechem, in the heart of the Samarian hills of Israel. From Shechem and the nearby villages bands of terrorists roam the area and pose a threat to the safety of all Jewish residents. Over the last three years there have been a number of attempts to infiltrate the town. Constant guard duty of civilians and army alike has saved many lives. It is obvious that more help is needed through electronic means. A security road around the community has been planned to allow regular patrols to check movement a safe distance from our homes. Along with early-warning equipment, a potential terrorist can be spotted before he reaches the nearest house. High-powered spot-lights help seeing in the dark. Heat sensitive devices detect movement even during the worst weather. They can be connected to a control room where someone can watch a screen with constant results. Because it would be very easy to cut off Elon Moreh from its major electrical supply, emergency generators are needed to ensure minimum light and basic functions. The present generators are in need of serious repair. Generators are also needed for the newest neighborhoods.
