ELON MOREH-a pioneer settlement in the Shomron- Memorial

A parable is given in Midrash Rabba (Ch. 30):

A father and son were traveling a long distance together. The son was getting tired and asked his father. “Where is the city we are headed for?” The father answered, “My son, you will have a sure sign that a city is near when you see a cemetery.”
So the Almighty has said to Israel, “If you see that your troubles are too much to bear, that is the time when the redemption is near.”
As it is written in Tehillim 20, “The L-rd answers you in the day of trouble, the name of the G-d of Yaakov set you up high --- Remember your meal-offerings and animal offerings burnt on the altar.”

Rami was taken from the outskirts of the yishuv into a nearby cave, there he was murdered. He was 8 years old.

Tirzah Porat
Kislev 12, 5733 (Dec. 7, 73) - Nissan 19, 5748 (Apr. 6, 88)
A group of teenagers on a field trip was attacked near the Arab village Beita. In the course of the scuffle Tirzah was killed.

Ofrah Felix
Sivan 12, 5735 (May 22, 75) - Shvat 5, 5755 (Jan. 6, 95)
Ofrah was on her way home from visiting family in Beit El. She was shot from an ambush from the side of the road.

Avner Hezi
Tishrei 30, 5737 (Jan. 3, 76) - Adar-2 10, 5757 (Mar. 19, 79)
Avner served as a medic in the Israeli Defense Forces in Lebanon. He was killed when a mortar hit his jeep.

Rabbi Portal was traveling with his family to Jerusalem when an Arab tractor rammed into their car.

Rabbi Hillel Lieberman

Rabbi Lieberman spent most of his time learning in the Yeshiva “Od Yosef Chai” in Joseph's Tomb in Shechem. When he heard that the army had abandoned the Tomb, he tried to reach the site and was murdered on his way there.

Adar 24, 5696 (Mar. 18, 36) - Tishrei 28, 5761 (Oct. 19, 00)
Rabbi Herling led a group on a field trip to their area of the Joshuah's Altar on Mt. Eval. The group was fired upon by a group of Arabs.

Aryeh Agranonia
Kislev 8, 5713 (Nov. 11, 52) - Iyar 15, 5761 (May 8, 01)
Aryeh volunteered for guard duty at the Binyamin Farm (named for Rabbi Binyamin Herling) near Itamar when he was shot.

Meir Lixenberg
Adar 5, 5726 (Feb. 25, 66) - Elul 9, 5761 (Aug. 27, 01)
Meir was on his way home in Itamar from Elon Moreh where he worked as the handyman for the Beit HaMedrash when he was shot from an ambush.

The night after the first day of Pessah a terrorist entered the Gavish home and sprayed bullets throughout the house killing David, Rachel, their eldest son Avraham, and Rachel's father Yitzhak Kanner.
