ELON MOREH - Shechem Renewal of the Jewish Settlement in Shomron

Another year full of events has passed by, a year of deepening the internal dangers to all the settlement movement, and also to the very existence of Elon Moreh. This threat, thank G-d, hasn't halted the development of the yishuv, and even in its shadow we have continued to build and to receive new families. Its possible to count many advances in the course of this year, but we are most concerned with the future. We have learned that the difficult political/security situation that we find ourselves in, also gives us the ability to develop and renew ourselves in many areas. Not that we are pleased, of course, with the policy of abandonment and destruction that the prime minister is leading, but we strive to make the best of the situation.

This is a natural extension of the goals of the original Elon Moreh settlement group, and continued by today's residents. Goals of settling the Land, while helping disadvantaged groups, absorbing new immigrants, building a training center for teachers, and much more...

The future holds before us many challenges which obligate us to continue and even increase the rate of growth of the yishuv, and with that to answer the challenges of social problems, to be a positive personal example, to develop leadership abilities, to teach ourselves and our children to deepen love of the People and the Land, and to move with the times to help lead our society.

Thanks to all of you who have chosen to be friends of Elon Moreh, and to share with us both the difficult and the rewarding times.
